Review
The wooden table is located in that BIG blue building on the corner of Gordon and Bush Roads Mosgiel. The cool thing about this business is that it was started by two mums who had a vision and dream.

The main cafe area has various yummy cabinet food, savoury and sweet, with a menu which changes daily (this can be viewed on their Facebook and website) and is seasonal.

The Wooden Table also offers local giftware and house made preserves as well as Hearth - artisan bakery breads which are available for sale on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you are in need of some catering this can also be arranged on request.

Located upstairs is a kids playroom which is great for keeping the kids entertained while the mum's sit on the relaxing seats and drink their coffees and chat without too much fuss!

The sun was streaming in on a lovely sunny Mosgiel day when we visited so we took advantage of the window seating.
There are two seperate rooms upstairs however if you have any escape artists the doors to these rooms can be closed to prevent anyone making a bolt to the stair case.

There is a chalk wall which was a big hit along with a toy box stacked with toys and a teepee. Toilet facilities are also located on both levels of the cafe.

Next time you're in the area be sure to check this place out or put it on the list for your next playdate/coffee catch up! Well worth the trip.

Governor's Cafe is a cozy little cafe on George St in the student end of town that has been around since 1977 and has always been popular among the students. However don't let that put you off taking the kids. They have a kids playroom upstairs which is awesome and they have the coolest Fluffies that are FREE! This cafe is the perfect location for catching up with friends with kids. They serve Orb coffee and their yummy food is made to order and they happily cater for any dietary requirements. Most menu food is also available in kid's sizes.

We met up with Benji and Tilly's mate Alba one afternoon for a coffee and catch up with her mum and little brother. The three toddlers had such a great time playing in the playroom that we lost track of time and stayed past closing time!

One of us had a pushchair with us at the cafe. There wasn't much room for storing it in the cafe but the staff were more than happy to have it sitting under the stairs while we enjoyed our coffee upstairs. Something to keep in mind for future visits if wanting to take prams.

The staff were very friendly and accomodating during our visit and made us feel welcome. Upstairs next to the playroom they have a change table located in the toilet that is even equipped with baby wipes!

This cafe definitely ticks all the boxes for a child friendly cafe. We have already been back since with some other friends and will be frequent visitors here!

We met up for coffee with the kids at Nova Restaurant and Cafe one morning. The kids did not want to keep still so we opted to get our coffees and fluffies in takeaway cups and took the kids across to the playroom at the Art Gallery next door.

The staff at Nova were very friendly and accomodating.
Allpress Coffee and a large selection of yummy teas on offer. They have cabinet food as well as a day menu and evening menu.

The playroom at the Art Gallery is a great location to take the toddlers. The kids loved running around, there was plenty of activities on offer for them-they can draw, play with toys, make the most of the leggo wall and chalk board or simply sit on the bean bags and read. It was enough to distract them for a bit while we drank our coffees and chatted!

Nova is also definitely worth the visit for a wine and a delicious donut on a date night or girls night.

Provisions of Arrowtown opened in 2010 inside of a restored historic cottage, dating back to the 1870’s Arrowtown goldrush era. This cute cottage coupled with gorgeous garden courtyard, gives a private and relaxed dining atmosphere.

Provisions of Arrowtown has a sister café also set in a restored historic building, The Boatshed café & bistro on the waterfront at the Frankton Marina, which Coffee Mum has previously reviewed - https://coffeemumotago.blogspot.co.nz/2016/11/the-boat-shed-cafe-bistro-queenstown.html

Provisions of Arrowtown prides itself in creating fresh modern food and offers both a daily blackboard menu as well as fast and easy cabinet food. A perfect location for a cosy catch up over coffee and sticky buns or a casual long lunch in the garden under the fruit trees. This cafe is child friendly and staff were more than happy to help with high chairs, fluffies and entertainment during our visit. Provisions of Arrowtown café food is all made on site along with fresh baked breads, bagels and pastries which are also baked daily. The kids menu is well priced and can be adapted if needed.
- Chicken nibbles $7.50
- Ham and Cheese toastie $8.80
- Hot dog in a bun $5.80
- Kids pancakes $8.50

We enjoyed our outside brunch, gazing at all the beautiful autumn leaves on the hills surrounding the cafe. If you find yourself in Arrowtown definitely visit Provisions of Arrowtown - we will be back :)

Oaken is a relatively new cafe that is located in North Dunedin on Great King St. You have no doubt driven past it. Located next to a motel, there is off street parking available outside the cafe as well as parking in nearby streets.

Seating is available downstairs with both indoor and outdoor options. The staff were more than happy to let us leave the pushchair downstairs while we opted to have our coffees upstairs. As you climb the steep stairs (little ones will need a hand) you are greeted with wall to wall windows creating  a very pleasant outlook. It was a sunny Dunedin day when we visited, with the sunshine streaming in with the view looking over the University and surrounding areas.

Oaken uses fresh ingredients and produce and has a menu as well as cabinet food on offer that is vegan friendly.

No highchairs or a change table were available. However the friendly staff and nice atmosphere and a GIANT Teddy made it a pleasant coffee experience with the kiddies.

As well as being child friendly, Oaken is also dog friendly.
This cafe is definitely worth checking out!

If you find yourself on George Street enjoying some well earned me time window shopping or for those lucky ones an actual shopping spree! Why not pop into this pocket sized modern boutique cafe for a treat.
Featuring  a long bar,  retro stools, small table arrangements and curb side seating layout, it offers a variety of tasty milkshakes, novelty Mexican iced coffees ,your favourite hot beverages,  home-made soda, local wine, and tap beer.
They are renown for their fried chicken, poutine, salmon bagel, fresh-baked treats or a Vietnamese BBQ Pork Baguette (a favourite with locals).
KiKi Beware have all your cravings covered.

As this gorgeously decorated little cafe is on the small side I would save this cafe for adult only moments and as they are open late most evenings you and the hubby could easily enjoy a date night or even a catch up wine with your fellow mums!

We definitely will be visiting again Xx

Review

The Civic cafe is located across from the Public Library and next to the DCC. The Civic cafe is the perfect coffee stop when visiting the public library. We popped by one Friday morning before heading to Story Time with the kiddies to give them some morning tea and a quick coffee break for ourselves. Now the kiddies are 18 months and full of energy our cafe experiences are much shorter ;)

The cafe has plenty of space for pushchairs and is easily accessible. It has basic food with typical tearoom type cabinet food- pies, sandwiches as well as a menu. However, the food is reasonably priced. Their coffee is the locally roasted primo blend Capo.

Patrons typically consist of local businesses and the elderly but the cafe certainly caters for children and families. It may not be the most glamorous cafe but the friendly staff make for an easy enjoyable experience if you're in the area or visiting the library.
