Review
Ironic Cafe & Bar is located across from the iconic Dunedin railway station. We met some friends for a pre Christmas lunch and enjoyed our enticing lunch and our well brewed coffees.
Most of ingredients are sourced locally including the Otago farmers market and they brew their own coffee- Evoke which can be purchased onsite.

Clip on highchairs were available as well as change  table in the disabled toilet.

Plenty of space for pushchairs and easily accessible with no stairs on site. As expected the week before Christmas it was busy with the lunchtime rush so there was a bit of a wait for our coffees and lunches. The staff were run off their feet!
The menu suggests there are dairy free options available, unfortunately for one of our friends this did not seem to be the case, with a lot of confusion around what she may actually be able to eat, very limited options were available.

Catering and private functions are available on request.
Full bar service.
Live entertainment on occasions.

This cafe has the complete package with their extensive menu and full bar service.  Whether its for coffee/lunch with the kiddies or dinner and drinks with friends be sure to check it out this summer.

Review
This really cool architecturally designed building is what you first notice when you arrive at Orokonui Ecosanctuary. Surrounded by native grasses and shrubs this cleverly designed building uses a mixture of old shipping containers, wood with a large curved window frontage with views across the ecosanctuary and Blueskin Bay it is a stunning setting to have a day out with family and friends.

The Horopito cafe is spacious and absorbs the wonderful views.
The menu and cabinet food complements the sustainability ethos of the sanctuary itself by using the finest locally sourced organic vegetables and native spices.
Gluten free options are available and food can happily be adapted for the kids.

The cafĂ© also composts its organic waste, uses UV treated rainwater and solar heated hot water.

Horopito cafe is child friendly with a designated Children's space with rugs, pillows, books and toys, as well as a table for colouring in and a rocking horse.

This cafe and ecosanctuary is definitely worth a visit, the grounds have various tracks to chose from, programmes and tours for all ages groups. You may even be lucky enough to see a Takahe or Kiwi. Check out their website for activities before visiting http://orokonui.nz

Mini Golf Course & Playground
Review

During the Christmas Holiday's we stayed in Twizel for a few days. We stopped into the Musterers Hut Cafe & Gift shop after going for a bike ride with the Grandparents. Master Benji needed to refuel after riding on the back of his dad's bike.
With the Alps 2 Ocean Cycleway nearby, the Musterers Hut Cafe is the perfect location to stop for a coffee or something to eat. Easily accessible with a large carpark outside and ample bike racks for those biking.
There were plenty of seating options inside and for those summer days there are both outdoor courtyard and undercover verandah seating. We opted to sit undercover on the verandah seating with Benji in a clip on highchair which they have available for the little ones. During the winter months they have log fires next to the couches which would be an idyllic place to drink your coffee amidst the colder weather.
Food is made freshly onsite and both gluten & dairy free options are available on request. Savoury and sweet cabinet food is available as well as a breakfast, lunch and kids menu.

With a playground and mini golf course onsite it is the perfect destination with kids of all ages.

Master Benji enjoying his well deserved fluffy
Mum and Dad returned the next day to the mini golf course so they could repeat their grudge match from last Christmas, while the Grandparents looked after master Benji.

The Musterers Hut is also available for private functions and children's parties.

Next time you are in Twizel or passing through - Be sure to check out the Musterers Hut. We will be back next time we are up in Twizel :)
